Enjoy Your Retirement By Crossing Things Off Your Bucket List

You have raised your children, worked hard all your life, and now for the first time ever you can think about what you want to do. What should you do with your time now?

Do you know how you want to spend it? Sometimes that is a hard question to answer. One way to clear up your confusion is to make a bucket list. This is a list of things you want to see or do before you die. Bucket lists are meant to be fun. Your list should contain as much as possible. A bucket list is not your standard to-do list. A bucket list should be creative, adventurous, and imaginative.

To get ideas for your list, start with something like travel. Are there places you have always dreamed of visiting, but never had the time? Sometimes money is an issue, maybe you don’t have the financial ability to travel much at this time. Well, so what! Dream big anyway. Who knows what can happen down the road. So if you dream of seeing Egypt, write it down on your list. Write down any place that fascinates you. Don’t ignore or forget places that are within driving distance of you now either. Maybe your only a couple of hundred miles away from the Grand Canyon. Always meant to take the time to see it? Make it happen now.

Your list can also contain experiences you want to have. For instance, would you like to camp under the stars? Or how about throwing a huge party for no reason at all. Would you like to experience what getting a tattoo feels like, or panning for gold? Maybe you have always wondered what it would be like to ride a motorcycle, or learn to ski.

Some of the items on my own personal list were dreams I had, but always managed to put aside, due to lack of time, or money. Simple dreams really, like learn to line dance, and how to cook healthier. Most cities have community education classes you can take which cost next to nothing.

Maybe you have personal goals regarding relationships that need mending, or old friendships you would like to reconnect with. How about developing a stronger relationship with your mate? Or spiritual goals as in learning to meditate, or getting a physic reading?

Make your bucket list centered around your dreams only. Don’t list things like jumping out of a plane, if it really doesn’t interest you. This is the time in your life that you can and should be a little selfish. Sit down somewhere quiet, by yourself, and dream. Write it all down, and take action. As soon as you are able to cross just one item off your list, you will feel empowered. Life can and will become exciting again
